Support These Purpose-Driven Hispanic and Latino Latina Brands

You are currently viewing Support These Purpose-Driven Hispanic and Latino Latina Brands

When we talk about Hispanic and Latinx in the US, around 5 million of them own a business (US Census Bureau). And as a Colombian-born American, I know that we Latinos love to do business rather than jobs, so this number is expected to rise.

On the flip side, the consumer market, specifically from the Latino demographics, is contributing to this boom. If you, too, are a Latin American, you might be one of the contributing persons. I know I am – being a highly internet-dependent human, I prefer to shop from these Hispanic and Latinx-owned businesses.

Anyway, as I write this, we are in the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month. Supporting such businesses might just be the near-perfect way to celebrate this month.

However, you might not know a lot about businesses that are backed by our people.

¿Es así? (Is that right?)

Well, half of the problem is solved because I will be talking about exactly those businesses that you are looking for. The rest of the problem will be solved when you read about them. Así que, vete, querida.

· The GuateMaya Art and Culture Connection

The name itself tells a story. Can you guess the roots of this business?

If your guess was something else than Guatemala, you need correction.

This is the business that represents the art and culture of Guatemala. If you don’t know about Guatemala, it is a small country that is in Central America. The capital of the country is Guatemala, and it is the land of the Mayan people.

The business sells art pieces that represent the culture of Guatemala, and it is made by the Mayan artisans in Guatemala. I love it when businesses actually represent and empower cultural features of their customers. That is why I adore my internet provider, Cox, because it empowers the Hispanic living in the US by offering affordable plans and Cox servicio al cliente en español.

The GuateMaya Art and Culture Connection supports the art schools around the local community of Guatemala, which is great. So, if you want to support a business in this Hispanic Heritage Month, it might be the right one.

· Burny Wild’s

Have you wondered about a sauce that can make almost any food instantly better?

Well, Burny Wild’s is exactly that. I have tried it and it is seriously delicious. The most boring food in the world can turn out to be great by adding merely a spoonful or two of this sauce.

The story behind this Latin-owned brand is super interesting, and I’ll share that with you.

There is a graphic designer in a studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is just not good at designing, but he can make a delicious sauce – the one that can make any food better.

Well, the sauce was already great; the only missing ingredient from the recipe was a representation. Well, the owner makes a mascot and boom! The problem is solved.

That’s how the brand Burny Wild’s sauce came into existence. The sauce represents the adventurous life in Latin America. I love it, and you will likely too when you try it.

· ONSET

If you like going to the gym and you are a fitness freak like me, then ONSET is the brand for you.

This is a fitness and apparel brand in one that was founded by a Latina influencer. The brand mainly sells fitness apparel, but it is not limited to that. It offers a lifestyle in itself, and it is nothing short of amazing.

I love her work and the creative content she offers on her Instagram page.

The most amazing thing about the brand is that the Latina who owns it not just runs the business, but she is a full-time mother as well. She shares tips from every aspect of her life, which makes the brand ONSET stand out from the rest.

All in all, it is one of those brands that can help a fellow Latin being. So, yeah, do it.

· Last But Not Least, Bawi Agua Fresca

You might not know about the Agua Fresca, so let me explain that to you first.

Agua Fresca in English is fresh water. It is basically a sweetened, refreshing drink that finds its roots to Mexico.

On to Bawi now, it is a brand owned by young businessmen, Victor and Jordan.

Jordan was born and raised in Texas, US, and Victor came from Mexico. It was Victor who wanted to introduce the agua fresca in the US, and since Jordan grew up in the US, he knew better about the local culture. So, it was a perfect match.

Then they launched Bawi Agua Fresca, which offers flavors like pineapple, passion fruit, and lime. I haven’t tried it, but I plan on ordering a couple of bottles for me and my girlfriend.
